Plagiarism Policy

The International Journal of Law and Business Studies (IJLBS) has established and implemented a strict plagiarism policy to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics. IJLBS is an international, double-blind peer-reviewed scholarly journal committed to maintaining academic honesty, originality, and professional responsibility in all forms of research publication.

Plagiarism is defined as the unethical use of another individual’s ideas, data, results, or written work without proper acknowledgment of the original source. This also includes self-plagiarism, where authors reuse substantial portions of their own previously published work without appropriate citation or disclosure. IJLBS treats plagiarism in any form as a serious violation of ethical publishing standards.

Policy Guidelines

1. Originality Requirement

Authors must ensure that manuscripts submitted to IJLBS are entirely original and unpublished. Any use of previously published material, including text, data, figures, or ideas, must be clearly cited and appropriately referenced. Manuscripts containing plagiarized or inadequately acknowledged content will not be considered for publication.

2. Plagiarism Detection

All submissions to IJLBS are screened using advanced plagiarism detection software to identify similarity with existing literature. The editorial team carefully evaluates similarity reports to assess the originality and academic integrity of each manuscript.

3. Acceptable Similarity Threshold

IJLBS follows internationally accepted standards for similarity assessment:

  • The overall similarity index (including references) should not exceed 15%.
  • The similarity index excluding references should not exceed 5%.

Manuscripts exceeding these limits may be returned to authors for revision or rejected, depending on the nature and extent of the overlap.

4. Consequences of Plagiarism

  • Minor Plagiarism:
Limited instances of improper paraphrasing or missing citations. Authors will be advised to revise the manuscript and provide appropriate references.
  • Intermediate Plagiarism:
Substantial overlap in text, arguments, or data without proper acknowledgment. Such manuscripts will be rejected outright.
  • Severe Plagiarism:
Extensive copying of content, including data, methodology, or original concepts, without citation. The manuscript will be rejected, and the author(s) may be permanently barred from submitting future work to IJLBS.

5. Post-Publication Measures

If plagiarism is identified after publication, IJLBS will initiate a thorough investigation. Based on the findings, appropriate actions may include issuing correction notices, retractions, or expressions of concern, and informing the authors’ affiliated institutions or funding bodies. All actions will be undertaken in accordance with Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.

6. Author Responsibilities

By submitting a manuscript to IJLBS, authors confirm that:

  • The work is original and has not been published or submitted elsewhere
  • All sources and references are properly cited
  • Necessary permissions for third-party content have been obtained
  • Ethical standards of academic writing and research have been followed

The International Journal of Law and Business Studies (IJLBS) remains firmly committed to promoting ethical research practices, transparency in scholarly communication, and the preservation of the integrity and credibility of the academic record. All contributors are expected to uphold the highest standards of originality and academic honesty.
